Tackle Football

Program Overview

Our Tackle Football Program provides a positive, structured environment where young athletes ages 9U through 14U learn the fundamentals of football with safety, development, and confidence at the forefront. The program emphasizes proper technique, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while helping players grow both on and off the field. Designed to support athletes from their first experience with tackle football through preparation for middle school and high school programs, the program serves as a foundational feeder into the next level of football.

Age Groups

Teams are organized by age-based groupings to align with our Cheer program, support appropriate development, and create a clear progression as athletes advance within the organization.

  • 9U (JR PeeWee) – Introductory level focused on football fundamentals, safe contact techniques, and learning the game
  • 11U (PeeWee) – Builds on core skills with expanded concepts, positional understanding, and team coordination
  • 13U (JR Midget) – Introduces advanced techniques, formations, and increased football IQ
  • 14U (Midget) – Focuses on advanced fundamentals and prepares athletes for middle school and high school football programs

Age group availability may vary based on registration numbers, roster sizes, and league guidelines.

Player Development Philosophy

Our football program follows the same development-first philosophy used across all age groups, from 9U through 14U. Success is measured by skill growth, confidence, and progression rather than wins and losses. Coaches focus on:

  • Teaching proper blocking, tackling, and movement fundamentals appropriate for each age level
  • Developing football IQ and positional understanding as athletes advance
  • Providing meaningful playing time and instruction for all athletes
  • Building confidence, accountability, teamwork, and leadership

Practices and games are structured to meet age-appropriate standards while preparing athletes for the next level of football.

Coaching & Volunteers

All 9U–14U teams are led by certified volunteer coaches committed to creating a positive, instructional, and supportive experience for every athlete.

Coaching requirements include:

  • Background checks
  • Completion of required coaching certifications and trainings
  • Compliance with league rules, safety protocols, and codes of conduct

Parents and guardians are encouraged to volunteer as coaches, team parents, or support staff to help strengthen the program and community.

Practice & Game Schedule

  • Practices for 9U–14U teams are typically held 2–3 times per week
  • Games are played on weekends, most often Saturdays

Practice schedules, locations, and game calendars are shared once teams are formed and certified. Scheduling adjustments may occur due to weather, field availability, or league coordination.

Equipment & Safety

Safety is a core component of our football program for all 9U–14U athletes.

Provided by the Program:

  • Helmet
  • Shoulder pads

Required from Families:

  • Mouthguard (required for all practices and games)
  • Football cleats (no metal spikes unless permitted by league rules)
  • Practice pants, socks, and personal athletic gear

Certified officials are used for all games. Coaches receive training in safe practice planning, proper tackling techniques, and concussion awareness in accordance with league and safety policies.
